Hotel Jen Tanglin : Pre-Christmas Staycation

December 22, 2015

I'm literally always up for a good staycation in Singapore coz to me, it's basically a little holiday without the pesky flight time which I hate!

This time, I spent my weekend at Hotel Jen Tanglin (which is the newly revamped Traders Hotel) :

What I really like about it is that they kept features people loved from the old Traders Hotel, yet renovated and updated the things that needed it too. So you get an old school charm, but with a fresh new look.

Woke up to this view of the pool :
Most of the rooms have this view, with the window and view being the main focus of the room (to me, at least)

I L O V E D their fluffy bedroom slippers, not every hotel has comfy ones like these..

Of course I had to check out the pool as well, and I did, on Sunday before I left.
They had floats for us to play with and I spent most of my time on this flamingo one ^.^

Amenities like these are obviously important.. Especially for people like me who always forget their toothpaste and toothbrush.

The highlight of my stay definitely had to be the brunch on Sunday at J65, though. It starts at 12pm and has the biggest spread of the week. If you don't have time or don't like staycations, you should definitely still head down for their Sunday Brunch.

Fresh seafood from lobsters, to mussels, to crabs are available..

An entire section of salami and smoked salmon to choose from...

Choices of tuna and salmon sashimi, as well as sushi...

Food close to our hearts like the chilli crab with mantou...

And even traditonal cakes and pastries like Kueh Lapis!

I was really excited at their selection of cakes, all festively decorated!

And here's what I actually picked out and ate :
I highly recommend the laksa, which is freshly prepared by the chef. You can choose from a few different types of laksa, like Penang or Singapore. I went for the Lobster Laksa as recommended by the chef and I loved it!

I'd say it's worth it if you have a biiiiig appetite especially, with buffet prices at $138SGD with free flow champagne/wine/beer/cocktails and $98SGD without.
These prices are net, so it's less confusing and you don't have to worry about GST or service charge at all!
